This post is part of the process to Install the Fedora 10 Theme in Ubuntu.
The Echo Icon Theme is an icon set created by the Fedora team to be used as the default Gnome Desktop icons for a Fedora Linux installation. This post will show you how to download these icons and install them on an Ubuntu system.
First we'll create a download directory and then download the icon archive. Open and terminal window and enter:
cd echo_theme
wget https://fedorahosted.org/releases/e/c/echo-icon-theme/echo-icon-theme-0.3.3.tar.bz2
Now extract the archive.
tar xvf echo-icon-theme-0.3.3.tar
Now just copy the extracted icons to your system icons folder.
You can now select the icons by customizing your theme. Go to System->Preferences->Appearance. Click on Customize. Select the Icons tab in the new window. Select Echo from the list and click Close. Close the Appearance Preferences window.
Edit 26-MAR-09: As one commenter pointed out, Echo is not the default icon theme in Fedora 10. Fedora 10 uses a modified version of the Mist icons. Mist should already be available by default in your Ubuntu installation.
